The Return Of The Japa-Dog
The Dogfather is taking a little trip to Tokyo… well, sort of.
For two days only, we’re bringing back one of our most requested menu items — the legendary Japa-Dog — and this time it’s happening at SumoFest. If you’ve ever wanted to see what happens when Japanese street-food inspiration meets The Dogfather’s signature hotdogs and smokies, this is your moment.
But here’s the catch: you can only try this menu if you have a SumoFest ticket.
What is SumoFest?
SumoFest is Calgary’s wildly fun celebration of Japanese culture and live sumo wrestling, where massive athletes face off in the dohyo while fans enjoy incredible food, drinks and entertainment. It’s one of the most unique events in the city and tickets are limited, so if you’re planning to go, don’t wait too long.
And yes… The Dogfather will be there, bowing respectfully while serving up some serious umami.
THE JAPA-DOG IS IN GOOD COMPANY
Our signature hotdog — made with a blend of grass-fed beef and free-range pork — gets the full Japanese street-food treatment. Think teriyaki, kewpie mayo, seaweed, miso mayo, chili crisp and other toppings that hit every note from sweet to salty to spicy. We have a full line-up of Japanese-inspired dawgs… and Sumo Balls.
Wait, what are Sumo Balls? Well… you’ll have to come to SumoFest to find out. Let’s just say they might look suspiciously like tater tots, but they’re loaded with Japanese-inspired toppings like kewpie mayo, teriyaki, seaweed, chili crisp, miso mayo and more.
So if you want to try the menu, watch some sumo wrestling, and see The Dogfather bow to the crowd while serving umami-packed dogs, make sure you grab a SumoFest ticket before they sell out.
We’ll see you there.
